Cosmic Cove Galaxy is a galaxy found in the World 2 of Super Mario Galaxy 2. The galaxy consists of planets of water and land with buttons that can freeze the water's surface. This is the introuductory stage of learning to swim and use a koopa shell in water. It is represented by its Starting Planet.

Planets[]

Starting Planet (Star Creek Planet)[]

This huge planet is a large rocky ball that has a water cover that stretches around the planet's prime meridian. The southern area, where the player starts, hosts a large beach. The northern area hosts the galaxy's titular landmark, the Cosmic Cove. The galaxy's Comet Medal can be found here in the first mission, but becomes sealed off when Mario freezes the water, which makes two island planets that pour waterfalls down accessible by jumping up said waterfalls. In the second mission, the water has been frozen over, rendering the titular cove inaccessible. There is a narrow, longer underground tunnel that must be swam through in the second mission.

Drill Water Spring Planet[]

A small planet that serves as the second mission's ending planet. It is bisected by a giant stone disk that cannot be jumped over. Mario can drill through its soft dirt core to access the other side with the Drill Suit.
